Pastor’s sermon this past week was entitled “The Blood”.  It immediately got me thinking about the song entitled “The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power”:

The blood that Jesus shed for me
Way back on Calvary
Oh the blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power

For it reaches to the highest mountain
And it flows to the lowest valley
The blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power

Oh it soothes my doubts
And calms my fears
And it dries all my tears
Oh the blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power

I would be lying if I didn’t tell you that this week has been a tough week for me so far (and as I am writing this, it’s only Wednesday!).  Ongoing circumstances and day-to-day troubles have really played with my emotions on a huge level this week.

But one thing is for sure…the Blood of Jesus.  I plead it daily over circumstances in my life.  I plead it daily over the lives of my two children.  Why?  Because of what the Blood does for me.

Look at what the songwriters says:  the Blood has power…power to give me strength to go from day to day to day, not matter what.   It soothes…it takes away my tears (there have been those this week, for sure).  And the best thing about the Blood is that no matter if I am on the mountaintop or in a deep valley of despair, it is there with me.

By virtue of the fact that Jesus shed His Blood for us and the Scripture telling us in  Romans 8:17 that we children of God, heirs of God and co-heirs with Jesus, then, my friends, we are indeed blood brothers and sisters!

Some days we might need a little “Blood transfusion” and guess what?  Jesus is just our type!
