It’s that time of year again. The Bratwurst Festival comes to town bringing lots of yummy food. If only each booth had a nutrition label next to the menu. It’s a catch 22 since I’m not sure I want to know. But I do know the choices are many. Some choices taste better than others but may not be as healthy. My mind weighs the options while my stomach waits. What can I say? I like food.
Simple idea. With many choices, my mind weighs the options to obtain the desired result. I pick and choose what I want, when I want it, and how I want it. I may choose, but it doesn’t mean I get what I want. I have to make the best decision based on my needs, how much money I have, and my desired outcome. Unfortunately, my first choice may not be what I’m going to get.
Now, consider the decisions I make. Do I seek the Holy Spirit to make the decision? Am I seeking God’s will for my life through my decisions? It’s only food. Does it matter?
John 1: 15-17 Jesus Promises Another Helper
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” (NKJV)
Knowing the Holy Spirit DWELLS in me, I say it matters. The Spirit of truth lives in me guiding me into all truth (John 16:13). All choices I make can have the Holy Spirit’s POWER guiding them! The same Power dwelling in me brought the Son back to life! How incredible is that!
I make the decision to pray for any and all decisions that come my way. Am I perfect? No. Sometimes I forget. Sometimes I want control. I’m human. But I’m trying. I’m trying to be more like Jesus. He prays for us too.
John 17: 9-10 Jesus Prays for His Disciples
“I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them.” (NKJV)
Choices are everywhere. God has choices too. Know that He chose us because He Loves Us. Choose to love and serve Him with your decisions.
