This has really been weighing heavily on me lately.  We take so many things for granted, we don’t truly know how blessed we really are. I’ve noticed a lot of ungratefulness lately, even in myself.

Why do we want earthly things so badly when we really ought to just be grateful?

Those things don’t come with us when we finally go home.  We sit here on earth and want all of these earthly things and get so upset or angry or depressed when we don’t have what others have or don’t have the newest of things.  When in all reality, we should be grateful we have been blessed with the many things we already have. For example, a job, our home, food to eat, family/friends, etc. And the most important, having God in our hearts.  The Holy Spirit is always with us, we should be grateful we have just that. Not everyone has that and doesn’t know what it’s like to have that.  There are people in this world that have absolutely nothing, who are spiritually bankrupt.

I’m grateful for my family, my job, a roof over my head, food to feed, and good health.  However, I’m most grateful that I gave my life to The Lord and that he controls everything in my life.

Psalm 107:1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.

I would be a mess (truthfully we all would) if I tried to run my life on my own.  But with Jesus in control, I know I can trust Him – He’s all I need!

Philippians 4:19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

“God not only knows where he is taking you, but he also knows how to get you there.”
