Being Made New
I find myself wanting more these days. But it’s not more stuff, more things to do, more money (…well, more money could be helpful.) But I want more of life, more of God, more peace, more of what God has in store for me. I’m changing I guess, My hopes and dreams are changing. And I believe the things that come from Him are what I am desiring more and more. His things are so good! Perhaps, the lyrics from a Lincoln Brewster song, Made New, say it better ….
“You’re calling me over
You’re pulling me close
With love You surround me
You give me hope
You’re taking me deeper
You’re making me whole
With grace You redeem me
You restore my soul
Now I’m made new
Because of You
You hold my head up
You remind me who I am
You hold my head up
I’m alive in You again
I’m made new
You’re making me stronger
You’re healing my heart
With Your hands You hold me
And You set me apart
You are my salvation
I will not fear
You’re the strength of my life
I won’t fear“
Some days I can’t get enough of a song, or I want to read just a little more of the devotional I have, or I wish Sunday School could last five minutes more because there is a great discussion happening. I am being restored and I want to take hold of His goodness and not let it go! It can be so exciting too. God is so good indeed!
Can all things old, be new again? Could I be changing? Sometimes I feel the same, and then I can’t believe how I am feeling, I don’t recognize myself. It’s kind of like when I re-read familiar verses again- they’re deeper now, they mean more now. And I’m smiling more- feeling stronger, more hopeful. I don’t want this to stop. And I can only thank God for these blessings. I haven’t tried a new vitamin, or new diet. It’s not me, it’s Him holding me, healing me. He is right here next to me, guiding me…making me new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
I know I am a new creation in Christ, but the changing, the creating doesn’t end. It continues as God works on us as we respond to Him in obedience!
Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Ask yourself today – what does He have in store for you? Don’t be afraid, spend some time with God and find out!
